Mr Mike Barrett

I am a Cambridge foot and ankle surgeon specialising in treating foot and ankle conditions including trauma (ankle fractures & achillies tendon injuries), sports injuries (ankle ligaments) and routine (arthritis, bunions, & flat foot). I am a consultant at Cambridge University Hospital, where I treat the most severely injured patients and challenging foot and ankle conditions.

I trained on the East of England orthopaedic rotation.  During this time, I was awarded the Trainee of the Year, and Trinity Cup (best in class) awards.  I am dual fellowship trained in foot & ankle, and major trauma & limb reconstruction (including deformity correction) surgery.

I treat all conditions of the foot and ankle, providing surgical and non surgical management options. I treat foot and ankle injuries (such as ankle sprains and fractures), achillies tendon injuries or disorders, hallux valgus (bunions), arthritis of the toe / foot / ankle, flat foot deformity, ankle instability, peroneal tendon dysfunction, plantar fasciitis, and morton’s neuroma.

I receive referrals for expert input, or second opinions on complex foot and ankle problems from across East Anglia.

I am widely published, and am the expert advisor for orthopaedics to the British Medical Journal, and have written book chapters on foot and ankle surgery.

I enjoy spending time with my wife and three young children. I also enjoy running and cycling.
